In the past seventeen days BoA has charged our checking account with more than sixteen overdraft fees totalling well over $560 when no overdraft should have been occuring in the first place. BoA has carefully manipulated checks and other payments (already paid to the vendors) to create overdraft situations in our account. They even took to holding back our deposits, so that even though the money was IN our account it was unavailable for our needs. Mind you, none of these payroll deposits have bounced in over a years time. I notified Customer Service every time one of these misappropriations of our account occured (We check the status of our account several times a day online). Only to be offered their overdraft protection service. Something we wouldnt need if they werent adjusting our account to suit themselves. Last night I checked our BoA account, as usual, and found a balance of $40, instead of what should have been there. I made one final and very angry call to the main Customer Service office and asked to speak directly to a supervisor. The end result left me so sick and distraught I thought I was going to puke and pass out. Of all my complaints, they turned over only one of the charges. So on this wonderful Saturday morning in February of 2009, I have $75 in order to try and pay my rent, car payment, gas (for the car in order to drive to work), phone bill, electric bill, instead of the $600 plus that is supposed to be in our checking account. Payday isnt until Wednesday and the tax refund isnt due for another 2-4weeks. I just dont know what we are going to do.

Find a new place to put your money. Suggest you might look into a local credit Union (Not for profit)...
Also check for overdraft protection.

If you run into a consumer friendly back or credit union, give us a heads-up...

I LIVE IN ILLINOIS AND HEARD THAT CENTRAL CREDIT UNION OF ILLINOIS WAS A GREAT PLACE TO CHECK OUT.  THEY HAVE BRANCHES IN BELLWOOD, ELK GROVE VILLAGE AND ORLAND PARK.  I HEAR THEY ARE GREAT TO WORK WITH TOO.

I have had the same type of problem with boa.  I have filed police reports for bank fraud twice.  I have contacted the local news and am trying to get the story on air so that enough people can find out what is happening.  I like the idea of protesting in front of the bank of Friday!  I was lucky enough to open a new account at another bank with my last paycheck, however not soon enough to save me from having to sell my wedding rings only three weeks past my husband's death in order to buy groceries.  Lets all get together and bring down BOA!
